MB ATF funnel???
Does anyone have the MB tool number (or has anyone heard of) a factory MB funnel for filling the transmission? I'm told it has a series of fine mesh screens in it that filter out the ATF. I've never seen one of these, a part number/tool number would help.

mb funnel
there is a funnel for the mercedes transmissions, you will find the number below, also depending on the model you will need an adapter tube, and the special mercedes dipstick to check the fluid, the dipstick is for all models with transmissions with the 722.6XX prefix.
funnel- 126-589-12-63-00 extension tube- 140-589-49-63-00 dipstick- 140-589-15-21-00 best i can remember the funnel was pretty expensive.

Go to the dollar store and get a set of cheap funnels. Rember to lift the hood to vertical when filling for the extra room.

As long as you're very hygienic and keep contaminants from getting into the fill, you can do what Steve says and use a cheap funnel. While you're in the dollar store, pick up a fine strainer and use it over the funnel if you need extra protection from contaminants.

Another method to filter is to use a paint filter which can be obtained at any automotive paint and body supply store. Many times they will give you a handful for free. They drop right into the funnel as they are cone shaped. Does tend to slow down the filling process a bit, but the fluid will be clean. When finished, throw away the filter.
