Brake help. which caliper repair kit?

I have a 1988 560SEL and I'm trying to redo the seals on the front calipers, but things have gone amiss. If I understand things correctly, Benz changed the calipers used halfway through production in 1988. According to the parts directory, my VIN is in the first half with the earlier calipers. I had ordered the caliper repair kit based on the year, model, and VIN but the seals i received appear to be too small. The origional sealing ring and boot fit the ~2.5-inch diameter pistons, and the repair kit was sized for ~2-inch diameter pistons. In the picture thats hopefully attached, the seals on the bottom are what were removed (the boot was the only one which wasn't in horrible shape) and the ones on the top are the "new" kit which is too small.

Would anyone out there have any suggestions as to what would be the proper repair kit for my car?

Thanks everyone!

Scott

Exclamation

If the calipers are ATE (teves) then the number is 000-420-15-44!

If they are Bendix (lucas), then from chassis A 0455160 you also need 000-420-15-44!

Upto that chassis number with Bendix calipers you need 000-420-16-44!

The parts are ATE's. The P/N I was told by Phil was 000-420-12-44. I guess I'll order the ATE front capiler repair kit and not worry about the chassis number since I know for a fact that they're ATE brakes and there's only the one repair kit for them. Thanks!

www.********.com has prices that will make you think about doing it yourself. I've had good luck with them.
