Not able to tell what model you have ,but is it possible that your aftermarket alarm was in some way tied into your foctory lock system so it would all work together? Mybe the alarm used a factory wire to tell it something and removing the alarm you may have removed a signal that it was passing onto the foctory lock system and now the origanal wire has to be hooked back up.

Just a thought

I have a 1985 300sd. The aftermarket alarm was not tied into the vacuum system to prevent it from working when disconnected. Even with the keyless entry I would sometimes lock the car from the driver's side of the car, and it would work fine. It is just now that I seem to be having problems.

Driver's door switch is bad, or the aftermarket alarm is screwing up the signals -- if the trunk lock works properly, it can only be the door switch.

Most likely you need to replace the actuator in the driver's door, as I believe it contains the switch. Only the alarm switch is in the actual lock.
