Newbie Needs Help - Defroster and Battery
My dad recently brought in his '03 e320 for service. He was told that he needs to replace the left and right defroster acctuator motors at a cost of $160 in parts and 6 hours labor @ $110 p/h. The code read by the tech was 9398.
He also complained that the battery light was coming on and was told he needed a k57/2 Battery relay for $52 plus andother hour to install. Code: 90981, 9092 All of this seems excesive to me and I was looking around for some help or advice. Thanks in advance, John Newbie |

ASSume the car is high mileage, above 50K?
The newer cars with servo driven A/C flaps have had problems with the motors. TO install the defroster drive motors the DASH must be completely removed. 6 hrs should be about correct.

Thanks Doc,
It has 72k miles. Do I have any recourse with MB? Can I complain that its a safety hazzard and try to have them cover the cost? DO you know anything about the relay. I am going to try to change it myself but have no idea where it is located yet. I'll do some research though. Thanks John |
