My dad recently backed into my 88 300CE. The damage is not that bad. I actually just need to replace my left healight assembly and thats it. I decided since my left headlight is all messed up I am going to upgrade to Euro lights. I just need to know how I can get a hold of some headlight wiper panels because I am not going to have wipers on it. If any of you can help me find a pair with no holes in it it would be greatly appreciated. Also I would like to know how the remove the wipers. Thanks

Bottom line is, some kits come with the panels below the headlights (sans wiper holes). The lights are a bit larger than the US versions, so the panels are shorter in height. The current wiper motor configuration intrudes in the area where the euro lights reside, so ultimately, you need to remove them altogether.

Suginami has a set on his, but noted a kit where you can still retain the wiper assemblies with the euros. That's the route I plan to take in the near future...

You can get the blank panels at the Dealer for short $$$
They will come in primer only, so plan on paint.
Some guys just get some plastic hole plugs. They are hardly noticed..

Some Euro kits actually come with the blank panel...You still have to paint it though.

As for removing the wipers...what do you mean? You can remove the wiper arms easily, there is a small nut on the end of the wiper motor shaft. The motors are attached to the headlight assemblies, so when you pull out your U.S. DOT headlight, you'll pull out the wiper motor too. Be sure to disconnect the washer supply tube and the electrical connections to it.

If you are going to go without wipers, be sure to disconnect the electrical plug to the small pump motor on the windshield washer resevoir that feeds the headlight wipers.

Personally, when I went from DOT headlights to euros, I went to the correct headlight wiper motors, wiper arms and blades. It was easy. Just purchase the wiper motors, arms, and blades for a 94-95 E320. Then all you have to do is carefully drill a small hole (3/16" or so) where the motor shaft goes through your current panel, use the existing fluid connector, and you're good to go. The headlight wiper motors cost me about $55 per on Ebay, but you can buy them new online for $100 per. The wiper blades are about $5 per, and the arm are something like $20 per. So all told with new parts, $250 for functioning wipers for your euro headlights, but much cheaper if you can find used parts. Try Potomac German Auto for used parts.

Otherwise, for much cheaper you can use your existing U.S. headlight wipers, and fabricate a mounting bracket. I just opted to spend the money and get the euro headlight wipers because they clean the foglight lenses as well as the headlights.

In my state, driving in the winter when they sand the roads especially, you really need the headlight wipers for driving at night on extended road trips. In other cars, going across the pass at night, I've litteraly had to stop on the side of the road to clean my headlights.
