My hat is off to you pgasch! Also, when I called Performace Products about tools, they did not carry this. The bearing price from the partsshop was better as well!

I successfully replaced the wheel bearing about a month ago and am just getting around to posting the results. It was a little more trouble than I thought. The problem is there is no easy way to use a traditional hydraulic press to get the center hub out of the wheel bearing. I had removed then entire housing from the rear suspension and carried it to work. Actually, I carried it to work for about a week, always in the back of the truck. I finally figured out the trick. First remove the three allen head bolts that retain the dust shield. The dust shield will now float between the housing and the hub. I placed the whole housing on the hydraulic press, hub facing down. I had two large steel blocks on either side of the housing. I was then able to run two 1" diamter rods between the housing and the dust shield. I bridged the rods across the two steel blocks and then press out the bearing. I wish I had a picture. The rods were aviation grade high strength alloy and they really bowed! Assembly was routine, paying attention to sequence and how the bearing was supported so that no side loads were imparted on the bearing itself.

The car runs great again and my wife is happy! Total cost about $100 in parts, $30 in tools, and about 3 weeks of down time while I played with it. Quoted shop costs were $550 to $650 (dealer was actually cheaper than the independant price!) Parts were bought from the PartsShop!
