I posted the same thread in the diesel discussion, and I managed to remove the pump yesterday. I found that the left-hand screw was at the bottom of the IP timer housing (out of place). It scored the inside housing of the vaccuum pump and a little piece of the cast (3x6 mm) from the IP timer housing broke. So apparently the pump is in good condition, it was loose from the timing gear. Now I have to get all the gaskets, some degreaser to clean the air pipe and put all together. I ordered the locking screw for the pump already. I couldn't find the tool to turn the pump, but I guess I can hold the shaft with a piece of rubber or leather to turn it to the delivery position of #1 cylinder. Should I use Thread Loc-Tite when putting back the left-hand screw? What is a reliable method, without the special electronic tool, to get the engine at 15 degrees ATDC?
Thank you for your advice.
