Need Experts help on ADS Damping Valves
I did many different searches on this subject, and haven't found what I'm looking for. The car is a 1995 S600 with ADS. The ride quality is inconsistent. In other words, some days the ride is smooth, other days the ride is very firm. Sometimes when the ride is firm I press the "Firm" ride switch to see if I can feel a difference. I do not feel a difference between firm and regular when the ride seems harsh. I may be imagining this, but it seems that when the weather is very cold, the ride is harsher. I changed the Damping Control Actuators (accumulators) last year. I did not notice a big difference in ride quality. I have hooked up my scanner to the car, and there are no fault codes stored. Is there a way to test the damping valves to determine if they are functioning properly? I imagine that you could apply voltage to the connectors to cycle these in some manner. Perhaps for test purposes, could the valves be "forced" into soft ride mode? Also, how does one check the shocks on cars equipped with ADS? Is the old-fashioned method of pushing down on each corner and watching rebound suitable? I sure could use some input from our experts, as I am having no luck finding anything in literature or on the web.
