loose parking brake 87 300e (already tried usual fixes)
After tightening both the pads via their respective adjusting wheels, and tightening the adjusting screw above the driveshaft, the pedal itself is still loose and causes the parking brake dash light to remain on all the time. It engages and serves it purpose fine after these adjustments, whereas before it did not, but it is still loose at the pedal itself. The cable under the car is tight from where it branches off to each wheel (location of adjusting screw) forward. I traced the cable farther forward and found that there is another spot where the cable attaches to a pivoting metal device connected to the body of the car. It's near the transmission. The cable is tight here as well, and it disappears into the body from this point. So somewhere between this second pivoting metal piece near the transmission and where the cable attaches to the pedal mechanism, I have access slack.
Is there any way to fix this?
Thanks for your time.
