I have a small problem. My braided fuel lines seem to be leaking. They are constantly wet with fuel between the 2-3 and 3-4 injectors. The short plug line on the #4 is actually dripping at a regular rate.

Can I replace these with regular, rubber fuel lines or must I use the braided lines? Should I re-plug the open end of the #4 with the MB plug? Or can I use alternate methods? I've got to stop this fuel waste.... Diesel is EXPENSIVE compared to the past few months!

The car is running fine except for poor MPG and a stutter at high RPM's. I am probably losing about 2 gal per tank on the ground! Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

I'll use some of the standard rubber hose to clean up the problem for now. I have a roll of the 1/4" ID hose left over from fixing my Lincoln.

I have to go to Lexington before the end of the year. I have a lot of paper-work to drop off at the Boy Scout Office. I will try to schedule a little time to stop by. Sorry I have not done it sooner, but I hate the thought of stopping by just to raid your garage.

Any thoughts on plugging the unused end of the #4 injector. Can I simply plug the hose with a 6mm bolt and clamp if off? will this work temp.?

I would love to have you drop by and visit. We could swap some Mercedes stories, but I must warn you,my Mercedes days goes back to 1967. The oldest Mercedes I ever worked on was a 1938 540K.
Bill(the one in Ky.)The 6mm. machine screw may be a tad big to plug off the end return hose.I use a 4mm. machine screw,and it is permanent.

I just replaced this very line on my '84 300D. Bought about a yard of the line for $16 from the dealer. No leaks, and it looks like it's supposed to.

I replaced a couple of these lines last night with spare rubber line I had in the garage. Looks like I am going to have to replace all these lines. The ones I pulled were so dry-rotted internally, they basically fell apart as I removed them.

Oh well, 25 years and almost 560K miles.... it was probably time to change them...

Being that I need that much (and not wanting to steal all of Bill Lewallen's supply), I will just stop my mechanic's shop on my way home from work this evening. He said he had it for around $2 per foot. I guess I will only need about 3-5 feet for the entire job.
