I am looking at replacing the control arms (top, forward link)on my car as the bushings are "gooey". The bolts are a tight fit on the chassis end and looks like it would be difficult to get any wrenches on them. The rotor dust shield looks like it has to be removed to remove the bolt on the wheel side. I have just rebuilt the front(ball joints/all steering links) and would like to repair the rear before I get it all alined. Thanks JD Hawthorne '86 300e |

You can get a bushing kit for this. You need specail tools to do this though. I would take it to a tech and allow them to do this and the ball joints with an alignment.

I presume that you are talking about the rear suspension here??
If so, all the bolts can be removed without removing the brake dust shield. Some are rather difficult and may require thin box wrenches but we do them on the alignment machine at times. Be aware that the most recent part numbers have been superceded and require different bolt kits.
