Not your usual OVP question

I apologize for yet another OVP question. I do not believe this one duplicates any I've seen thus far. Perhaps I didn't look hard enough.

For reasons I won't waste anyones time with, I believe mine could stand changing.

It may very well be the original. It's a single fuse - Siemens Austria - 201-540-38-45. This part no longer shows up as valid at local MB dealer. They show current part number to be 201-540-37-45 - dual fuse - 9 pin.

Ok - my 38-45 has 7 pins - I had it out a long time ago and do not remember if the piece it connects to can accomodate the new 9 pin 37-45 OVP.

Would anyone know if the newer 9 pin will fit a plug that presently holds a 7 pin OVP?

I'd like to pick one up on the way home tonight as it would save me considerable driving. I've opted to go with the dealer item as just about all others are KAE. I saw a post here that MBDoc participated in and my take on KAE is it's no better than the original trouble-some part that's been discussed many times.

Thanks for your time.

Never saw my original one when it was replaced a couple of years ago. I currently have the 9 pin 37-45 (2 fuse made in Hungary).

If you take it out of its little holder you can see that two of the holes are just black with no metal connectors within them, so I'm sure only 7 of the 9 pins are actually doing anything.

I pulled my 201-540-38-45 Siemens OVP out yesterday. It's single fuse 7-pin unit. I did see 9 holes on the connection piece.

Thanks.
