how do I unwind seatbelt reel?
I have purchased 2 seatbelts for my 1984 W126 (non ETR type). They are wound up in the reel and I can not get them to unwind. Is there a trick to this? If you order a new one does it come pulled out?

The reel usually has some type of "inertia" lock that prevents the belts from extending when the vehicle is slowing down. Is it possible that this device is engaged?

also.....
the inertia reel is very sensitive to position, you pretty much have to have the reels in the exact position (horizontal/vertical) that they would be in when mounted to the vehicle. Try bolting one up ..I bet it will work then.
