Hello new to forum.
Need advice re: Car cranks for about 10sec. when hot. Where do I start to troubleshoot?

You need to tell us what the year and specific MB model is. You might want to give us info on what if anything you may have tried already, and when the last tuneup was.

Sorry Gilly. I have a 1981 380SL. At this point I have replaced the Idle speed controler for a problem I had with high idle. The hot start is my next project. I haven't done anything because I dont know where to start.

If you are unaware of the state of tune, would you remove 1 sparkplug (whichever is easiest) and note the brand and type(model number) of sparkplug and measure what the gap is? Also note if the center elctrode is flat or rounded (worn).

I just semi-cleaned my engine compartment yesterday. I used some WD 40 to cut through some grease(?) or grime that was on the valve cover and on the manifold. Finished at night, so haven't seen it in the daylight.

What the heck do dealers / detailers use to make everything shine like a new car? I have had my car's detailed and they come out with a spotless engine compartment, full of shine and lasts for a while... Can't be armor all in the engine compartment...silicone spray? Anyone knows...
