Climate Control Diagnostic Adapter Needed

Does anyone know where I could locate a Diagnostic Adapter for Automatic Climate Control III (p/n 126 589 03 21 00)? If I have to purchase through a dealer, anyone know the approximate cost?

I have the CD and am doing ACC troubleshooting.

Thanks in advance.

I would guess that your MB dealer is the place, unless there might be a better dealer. You might try the Star magazine. There are dealers that advertise wholesale to members.

There are many threads with lots of instructions on how to get the codes using an LED. There is a thread with a link to a fellows site where he has a simple diagram about how to make a test box with an LED, some test clips and a few passive devices. I got all the stuff to make one at Radio Shack for about $20 and made one. It works quite well.

You can just rig up an LED without putting together the box, but the box has proven quite handy.

I would do a forum search on climate control diagnostic or some such until you find it.

Good luck,

Thanks for the replies.

I ended up using a multimeter and tapping right into the pins on the temperature regulator harness. If you follow the instructions on the CD under Climate Control troubleshooting, it indicates the approriate pins to use for each test. It also gives a wiring diagram for confirmation. The results of the various tests (for in-car temp sensor, heat exchanger temp sensor, blower, etc.) fell at or near the cd's given ranges, hence the testing method was working.

I am glad to learn this method since the adapter/tester was quoted at $254 by Phil. Sorry Phil, I've bought a lot of stuff from you, but not this one.

Happy St. Paddy's Day

Where is that Post?

I have searched up and down for a post on how to make your own climate control tester. Can anyone help me?

Also, is there any way to just use a multimeter to perform the testing?
My compressor is not seized but does not turn on so I need to diagnose the system
