I have a 92' 300E, NOT 24v engine, when the engine is cold there are some clicking sound, and definitely, is connecting to the engine, because when I stop the car with engine running, it still here, but after few mile drive, it dissappear... what is going on? or where is most likely it come from??
and beside of that, when in idelling, the engine have some vibration, and is happen suddently, not constantly. and is not follow any frenquancy things... could anyone kindly tell me what happen?? Thanks in advance!! Gary! |

Hi Gary,
Sounds like one or some of your lifters may be getting noisy - I have a similar problem. Regarding the sporadic rough idling, I would guess it is the fan tensioner damper - it looks like a little shock absorber at the front of the engine. These seem to go bad on every M103 engine eventually - but at least it is a cheap fix to have it replaced! Is there any unusual noise associated with the rough idle? |

the noise is only come when the engine is cold, and when it become warm, it dissapear. and they are no other noise anywhere else. but how about the vibration, during idelling?? |
