I wonder if its possible to build your own DLSV set of relay? I can't buy from Crutchfield cause they don't ship to Canada. I actually bought a Omega Rec-11+ that didn't come with the DLSV/Au514 (sp?) so right now its sitting on the shelf for over a year already. Useless cause I still can't get my hand on those damn relays.

Yes,
The DLSV you need that Crutchfield wont mail to you is made from the basic relays, it is just already assembled. Just follow the diagram you posted and it should work fine. I made my own and it works perfectly.

Guys, great thread.
But I still have some confusion/concerns about the alarm (old-timer's disease).

- Costanza had no alarm, so no issue for him.
- Crhenkel said the alarm will not be an issue, as long as the unit fires the
driver door unlock, the alarm will be disarmed.
- But Dacanes said he hooked a signal to the alarm to get it to disarm.
(what year/model was his car?)

It seems pretty clear that any vacuum system will need the DLS-V relays.

But, am I "alarm-safe" installing Contanza's system in a '91 126 with the vacuum system that unlocks all doors from the trunk?

Finally, installed Omega Rec-43T keyless entry in my 1991 190E 2.3. It is easy to install. Thanks Costanza!

Only one stupid question. Unlock is no problem, but when lock it.... It seems delay. I need to hold the lock buttom few seconds, then the door will lock. Do I need to adjust it? Also, it seems only work within four feets around the car. Do I made mistake during installation?

Anyone has the same problem on it?

YES, as long as the unit is unocking the sytem, be it the the trunk or the doors, the alarm will disarm. I had a system on another MB and did it on the trunk ( a W124 300CE) it worked fine.

You probably need to adjust the Omega unit to send the signal for a longer duration. Mine has a little dial you insert a tiny phillips screwdriver into. It goes from 1/10 sec. to 30 sec. Your unit's directions should tell you how.

Did you un-wrap the antenna lead? I have mine going from the unit mounted near the pump, to the driver's side of the car.

I give you guys credit for this DIY project. I considered this DIY project but opted to buy the VIPER 211 keyless system for my 1989 300E at Best Buy at let them install it. System included horn activation, flashing lights and a panic alarm too. It was more expensive but worth it to me. It was a challenge for them since my system was the older vacuum system, not electronic. Good luck to the DIY's!

I have a Clifford in my 300TE. I put it in myself, and love the convenience it offers.

Well, I ordered the "Stealmycar" unit from eBay for my '91 W126.
I'll report on my success.

Constanza; I assume you gave up on the Stealmycar unit due to the unclear wiring directions they sent? (I don't blame you!)

But, I found a 2006 post by PTM6295W124 1991 300E Keyless Entry Question).
His post has a wiring diagram photo, which compared favorably with Constanza's wiring notes. So, it appears this unit has the DLS-V relay set built in, and should hook up in the same 4-wire configuration.

We'll see!

PTM6295 reported the alarm triggered, however, so I may have to address this after I get the unlock going.
I know Chris and others had no alarm issues with their similar installs, so I'm hoping for the best.

Funny, I have a hard copy of the '86 W126 factory manual, and there are wiring diagrams, vacuum diagrams for everything, EXCEPT THE ALARM SYSTEM! Maybe they omitted that to keep the theives confused?

For my 1989 300 E! Old vacuum system with alarm!


Alarm system is activated and deactivated when using the key in any on the locks. If your car has an alarm system from this time era, the key with a RED Sensor on it will arm and disarm the alarm system. If you lock the car without the key from the passenger door or with a keyless alarm system like the Viper, it will lock the car but without the alarm system! That is why when you unlock the car, the alarm will not go not go off. Unlock the car when it was locked with the key (thus activating the alarm) with the keyless system and guess what, the alarm goes off! Not a big issue for me! I can occasionally lock the car with the key in those situations where an alarm system might be helpful.

Mine is a '91 S-class, so should be similar.
What do you mean by Red sensor on the key: RF ID? coded resistor?
My keys appear to have no RF or resistor chips, or any embedded electronics.
But I guess it could be hidden under the rubber end.
I assumed it had no such system.
I'll try the push-button right-hand locking and see if it triggers the alarm.

This is getting interesting; makes me want to pull the door lock and see what-all they have in there. I know it's not too simple, because if you try to push the driver lock down, with the door open, it won't go down - so it's pretty smart.

I always thought that the keys with the red dot on them were simply the master keys for the car, and had no other special significance.

However, none of my original W124 keys had the red dot on them and when I ordered a new set of locks and keys, none of the new keys had a red dot on them either.

Here is a picture from page 30 of my owner's manual which is self-emplanatory. I have two keys and both have the RED sensor on it.

Picture quality not the best. Second paragraph reads: Vehicles equipped with the anti-theft alarm system are identified by having a red dot on the master, valet and flat keys.

So the red dot is just an identifier for car with alarm, not anything more.

I have three new keys for my W124, and two old ones - none of them have ever had a red dot on them, and my car has an alarm.
