removal of protective door strip 280CE

How does one remove the protective strips on the outside of the door on a W123. I wish to remove both the one at the waist line and the one at the lower edge which has a stainless steel strip insert. The lower strip has a small nut behind the inside door rubber but this is all I can see. Thanks!
