Still trying to fix this car.
Hey,
1. 1990ce......w124......Whenever the car goes through its gears, a loud boom occurs in the rear. Im thinking its the differential.....what can it be, and how can i fix it? 2. Where are the SRS modules located in the w124 and the w201 mbzs? thanks a |

You sure its not just " banging " into high gear ? That's pretty common when the transmissions get weak..........it might be the rear carrier bushings. the top ones go bad I hear. Preetty easy with the tool. I bet you have a transmission problem however........

It could be the flex disks.

Thanks for the input thus far...my mechanic thinks it might be the smaller gears/bushings that keep the larger gears in place within the differential. He says that when these "bushings" go bad, they allow the larger gears a lot of play causing the booming sound. What do you think of this analysis?
