Tonite after hanging out i went to my car to head home only to find that i couldnt unlock my door. After all of my friends had a turn at trying to unlock both my drivers and pasenger side doors, the driver's side door eventually unlocked. The passenger side door lock remained frozen. I have ruled out it being a bad key since i was able to open the trunk with no problem and i used both of the keys i had on me in both doors.

I can not figure out why my passenger's and driver's side door locks do not open with either of my keys. Once inserted in the key hole the key will not move at all. The driver's side door eventually unlocked after a few minutes of trying.

the car is an '85 190e
any ideas to how to fix this would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Did you see anything in the lock that came out on your key that was sort of a white powder? There was a person who posted a few weeks ago that someone had put something in their locks. It seemed from some of the replies that one way thieves try to pick locks is using super glue in them.

I don't know if this helps, but I thought that I'd pass it along.

Good luck,

MB dealers(retail outlet centers) sell lock de-icer. I'm sure that many other part stores sell the same thing for less. But in cold weather it's handy!! Happy Holidays

Dug,

Was ambient temp. below 32F? Did locks work after temp. rise above 32F? 'Had frozen door lock on 80 240D years ago.
'Poured hot/warm water on it to thaw. De-icer nice, too, but didn't have any with me.

If lock is frozen, heat the key with match or lighter and insert key in lock. Usually works.
