Headrest adjustment button not working

The headrest button on drivers side does not work but the other 2 seat adjustment buttons work fine. The passenger side seat buttons all work. Any idea where to start looking to check this out? Can the seat adjustment switch be taken out without removing the door panel? Thanks

Lots of reasons.. even unusual ones

Gary,

I'm sure there are more common reasons - like you mentioned. I had an unusual one. I took apart my seat and found a broken spring had cut the wire for the headrest motor. Hope yours is easier to find.

Are you sure its the switch?

Put your ear to the back of the seat while someone activates the switch. Is the motor working, or is there dead silence?

The motor is easy to get to by removing 2 screws and pulling the panel off the back of the seat. the motor is on the left side with a flexible shaft sticking out or it.

Thanks for the input...I'll have to check to see if I can hear the motor since I was trying it while driving. I'll also check taking the seat back off.

Before you start tearing things apart - I had a problem with the passenger seat reclining but not going back up. I sprayed the switch with contact cleaner and worked it a couple of times. Seat now works in all directions. YMMV.

Well, it msut be majic but I took off the seat back and could not see anything unusual. I could hear a "click" when I activated the headrest button so I played around with the wires on the motor and the cable under the seat but still could not get working. Put the seat back on went for a drive and casually hit the headrest button just to see and it worked!!

Must be a loose connection somewhere but I'm not about to take out the seat to see if there was something amiss under the seat with the wiring. I'll just see how long my "fix" lasts.
