Question 92 400E steering

I am soon to be a new MB owner. I am getting my brother's 92 400E at the cost of fixing the power steering. Haven't looked at it yet but by the description i was given the failure is in the lines or the steering box (rack?) as the leak comes from near the rear of the engine not the pump area (front?). Are there any known problems with failed seals or commonly broken lines or fittings that I can look for? I going to check out the car this weekend. the car has 180,000 miles on it.

PS Pump is prone to leakage on these cars. Fastlane sells a seal replacement kit - supposedly takes about an hour to replace, parts are around $40. This is a much cheaper repair than replacing the pump for many hundreds of dollars.

Unsure about the steering box itself - it's not leaking on my 1995 E420. Hope it never does!
