I have a 2003 C Class Sports Coupe which recently went into a garage for a complimentary full valet. Very nice, except it has come out with two problems that seem totally unrelated and neither can I see that the guys who cleaned the car were responsible.

1. Remote control now only works close up - very close. Changed the batteries because that was the obvious thing but no, still only works within a few inches of the sensor on the door.

2. It's as though the aerial has unplugged on the radio. FM is just about ok but LW and MW are just screeching white noise.

When it went in for a clean all was well, when it came out - this. Any thoughts please?

Did they use water on the back window on the inside. There are amplifiers in the rear glass for the antennae! Does your radio reception now suck as well? That is the first sign of an issue. Check all your fuses as that may be the problem as well. Someone on another forum or maybe on here had the same issue a little while back and I think it was just a fuse. Others have had there windows tinted and fried the amplifiers by getting them wet as well. Both will cause the key and car to communicate using infrared only, the door handle's have those sensors in them on the 2003!
