E class catalytic converters warrantee ??

Question. My 01 e-wagon has 61K miles. The catalytic boxes are making the car sound like a diesel at idle. I was told the system is coveret to 70,000, but the MB dealers are reluctant to warrantee the repair.

Is there a way to get them to warrantee the cost and it not be considered "damage"?

the cats are covered by 8y-80mi. they have to replace them as long as their not 'physically' damaged, i.e. dented.

don't know why they wouldn't want to replace them. its an easy 2 hours for the tech that does it.
