Short hose between water pump and engine
Can anyone tell me how to change the short hose connects to engine from water pump? One mechanic told me he had to remove the water pump to replace it , $$$. Is it true? Thanks.

Tis true. You either need to remove the head or the water pump to replace that hose properly.

I'm afraid that is true. You must remove the water pump. No easy task.

Do a search, I think somebody here figured out a way to do it.

I did it last summer. You need to first cut the old hose off so you have a little more room. Next you need to very carefully cut off about 1/4 inch of the pipe on the waterpump. You have to go slow, there's not much room. Be very careful not to cut into the intake manifold as others have done. With this little section of the waterpump pipe gone you can slip the new hose into place, and there's still enough pipe on the water pump to clamp it in place. I wound up replacing the water pump about 6 months later when it went bad, so I'm back to a factory configuration now.

I think that rubber hose tends to outlast your water pump. I'd have one on hand just in case, but would wait until the water pump gets changed to also change that hose.
