Crazy starting
Here I go again! I have '95 E320 which sometimes starts funny. I turn the key and nothing happens. If I hold it there long enough it will eventually slowly turn over and start. Then the wiper makes a couple of sweeps although I never touched the wiper switch!
I have been to the indy and he can't find anything wrong. I have spent $160 and a day at the dealer and it wouldn't do it for him. I take it home and of course it is doing it again. It doesn't always do it. I have done a search and came up with: Battery (checked good) ignition switch? park starting switch? starter? Any ideas? |

Did you check your engine wiring harness? The 95 vintage had harness issues and those symptoms are really quirky. If the harness is original get it checked. It could be a shorted wire in the harness to the starter silenoid whereas the closure of the circuit hits the wiper when you turn the ignition, has to get up enough juice with the short and then eventually builds enough and because of the attenuation (power loss) it finally hits the silenoid and cranks the engine. That is the only thing I can think of. Good luck!

Fixed
It was the battery. Replaced it and it seems fine now. I only wish I had done that before I spent $200 trying to figure out what was wrong. It had tested Ok but must have been doing funny things.
