Source for 8mm Torx head bit

I read elsewhere on this forum that this is the size and style tool I need to change the rear struts on my 300TD.

Where can I find this tool? I have looked in local auto supply stores, hardware stores, Sears, and done online searches. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I just purchased a T30 torx bit for a 3/8" ratchet from Orchard Supply (Sears). I don't know what number is used for an 8mm bolt, maybe a T45? If you google for metric cross reference bolts torx you'll probably get something tells you everything you wanted to know.

Yes..Torx sizes are torx sizes. 30,35,40 and so on. no metric. Sears has them, You may have confused the sales clerk when you asked for metric.
Unless...I've never done the rear shocks. you need metric Allen wrenches or have what looks like a very fine toothed torx (not called trox at all) that is a europein tool like commonly used on VW CV boots. Got Mine at the local Napa auto store.
Hope that helps thouth it likely doesn't.
Good Luck anyhow.

Thank you very much. I was under the mistaken impression that T45, T50 etc. were SAE sizes. I should have no trouble now...

(This is needed for rear hatch strut replacement, btw...)
