but I would be interested in getting some opinions. Has anyone ever tried one of these? Would anyone ever try one?

I had one on one of my old cars a while back. I liked it. I can see how it wouldn't get all the oil out though, due to the fact that you have a length of threaded pipe up in your pan.

I agree with Q, it will cause you to retain a little oil in the pan. The worst part is, the last little bit of oil that comes out is the sludgiest.

I know that thorough oil changing is a messy business. You just need to have a rag in your hand when you pull the plug so that you're ready to clean your hands. In the summer when the oil is extra hot, you get the oil off your hand quick because it's hot.

The mess, the pain, the hassle..... I feel that it's all worth it to keep that darlin' runnin' forever.

Good luck,
Change oil hot and change oil often,

Push in on the drain plug while hand unscrewing it and then pull it away quickly when the threads are completely disengaged and you won't get a lot of oil on ya.
