1997 E-420 transmission service
I am getting my 1997 E-420 transmission service at dealer this week. The car has 112000 miles.
What I should I tell dealer to do? I mean dealer will replace the transmission oil, filter and gasket etc. What is the torque converter? Is torque converter need to service? I am very new to MB cars and any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Dealer is charging me $225 for transmission service. |

The torque converter has a drain plug too and contains as much fluid as your transmission, so tell them to drain it too.

$225 seems llike a good price. Yes, the torque converter has a drain plug on that model year and it should be drained. The torque converter probably holds at least 3 quarts.

Thanks Ali. I confirmed with dealer that they will drain the torque converter also. Dealer will remove the transmission pan and will clean it out. Dealer will install a new transmission pan magnet, new filter and gasket.
