Hi guys,
When replacing the waterpump on the M110 280 (W123) - how do you get to the fifth bolt!? Four are fine but the fifth is obstructed by the harmonic balancer wheel. On the older ones like my W108 there is an access hole for the ratchet but there is no hole and it seems to be much more difficult on this one?? does the harmonic balancer wheel and all have to come off??? help please! Been years since I did one (like maybe twenty). There were numerous MB models that required the balancer to be removed. I'm guessing yours is one of them.

Unfortunately you have to remove the balancer.
You will need a long 6mm hex socket to get at the bolds. Be very careful with the kind of socket you use these long sockets can twist and ruin the bold. I use a 8mm socket that is 6mm at the end (see picture). Use a hammer to get is fully in! |
