C280 -- cassette holder replacement suggestion

I've seen this buried in a couple of other posts but thought I'd share.

The 1994 C280 has the 6 cassette tape storage thing under the stereo. Pretty non-functional and a waste of space these days. Someone had noticed that later C280s had a cd / map bin in that spot. I had to go by the dealer today so I asked. Bingo. $28 for the bin. An hour later and I had it installed. I went ahead and pulled the between-the-front-seat console while doing so and got everything all vacuumed and cleaned up, too.

Great upgrade.

By the way, my center caps all had the paint peeling. I've notice the newer ones with the chrome rim around the edge and having the star in the middle chromed, too. $6.75 each and the wheels look like a million bucks.

These things aren't cheap to maintain, but here are a couple of "cheap" upgrades.

Thanx for that suggestion, I have always hated those tape holders, definitely a waste of space considering the toys that we have now to put there!

Brookspw,

Couple of things:

First... nice avitar. Great minds, aye?

Second... Is the cassette holder in your C280 the same as what was in your 190E?
