210 Lower Ball Joints
Getting some good clunks over bumps recently.. time to do the lower ball joints.. Few questions..
The way I see it.. The easiest way to get at it is to remove the entire control arm.. unbolt the upper ball joint, unbolt the tie rod and the bolt that attaches the lower ball joint to the lower control arm. I assume I will have to support the lower control arm in the rested position with a jack. I assume I will need a ball joint press.. any reccomended brand or collar sizes? Any more suggestions are appreciated.. thanks! |

The W210 ball joint is one of the easiest on a MB there is! Just support the lower control arm , then back the nuts on the ball-joint off, smack the ball joint with hammer, & then take the nuts off. Simply remove the old one & bolt in the new joint!

Like I posted earlier: Just back the nuts off(so they almost off), & then SMACK the joint with LARGE hammer several times. Then completely remove the nuts!
BY leaving some spring tension on the lower arm that will help with removal! Then lift the arm completely to remove the nuts & joint!

Finally got the job done.. bought a two arm 5-ton puller and popped it out. I don't see how you do it with just a hammer!! Took a ton of force to pop those tapered fittings out!!
