fule leak under tank

Hello everone I have a 1992 500SEL while parked under my car port I notice what seem to be gas lightly sprayed on the floor, or lightly leaking. Last time the size of the leak was about 12 X 20 ". it seem to happen only when it
get warm outside, also when driving on a hot day and you park the car and stop
the motor it is hard to restard. Could the gas cap have something to do with this? Thanks for your help
