ODB2 Code help!!! :sniff:

Hello again.

Went out and rented a coder reader.
I seem to be getting

P0304 - Cylinder 4 misfire detected

&

P0700 - Trans control sys malfunction

what exactly does this mean?
any help is apreciated!

oh yeah, ive got a 99 C230 Kompressor. 73K miles

It exactly means that in 1000 firing events 200 or more were defective on cylinder number 4 (or some such). Probably ignition related but not necessarily. (the code doesn't tell me this ... experience does)

The second code means your transmission controller has communicated a fault in its system to the ME controller and you don't have enough tool to figure it out. Code readers only talk to one controller out of probably twenty on your car.

Someone mentioned at the auto store that it might be coils?
where are they?

coils

they are located at the valve cover under the inspection cover, i would try spark plugs before i went replacing coils. the plug interval for your car is 4 years or 100K miles whichever comes first, get 4 Bosch F7KTCR they are about $7.00 each or about $4.00 from fastlane.
