W124 Center Console 1/2 lit

Anyone have a link on how to remove the center cosole trim to change the bulbs? Only the right side of the center console lights up right now. I'd like to get this out of the way since it's the only bulb in the interior that is burnt.

Just lost the entire post for some reason. Here we go again...

I removed the 2 screws that hold the wood panel over the center console. As you can see, these screws are on the underside.

Next I removed the 6 visible screws holding the unit together.
2 screws on top and 2 screws on the side.

Then I pulled the unit apart.

Here is a picture of the front part of the unit.

I pulled the sticker off and I see a bulb in there.

Now what???

Maybe I should take this thing apart and get to it from the inside......

Let's see what we have in here.

Here it is with the cover removed. It doesn't look like it's any easier to get to the bulb from here.

Back to square 1. I can see the bulb, but how do I pull this thing out?

I just got off the phone with the dealer and they suggest using a piece of vacuum tubing. Something I don't have rigt now. That's it, enough is enough, I'm gonna pull that little out right here right now. Mission accomplished using a flat head scredriver and some serious desire to make it happen.

Now I'm off to the dealer. They have a bulb with my name on it. I'll be back to complete this task soon.

Good job. I had read before on this board to use a little piece of rubber tubing to pull it out.

The part was waiting for me as promised. That's another $1.08 I had to spend on this high maintenence car

Here is the new bulb being inserted finally.

I forgot to mention earlier that I had to remove these 2 plugs to separate the push button assmbly .

So I put everything back together again. Here is a picture of the last screw going in place on the botom left of the wood trim.

And for the grand finale let's try it out...
Oh...the battery is dead once again . I will give the car a boost tonight and see if the left and right side of the console light up.

I have each and every interior light working now. Here is a pic of the center console push button assembly with both sides working:

If you look closely you can see the defroster lit up on the left and the "o" button on the far right lit up as well. I took a few pictures, but wasn't able to take good ones.

It's finally over .
