Early 722.6 gurus - MB Doc??

My car is a 97 Starmark C230 with 87k. This car was bought at 61k, and has had conductor plate, filter and fluid, new shift mechanism, and had the valve body "R&R's" for some unrelated reason. There have been ongoing tranny issues, mainly erratic shifting, a 1st gear slip that came and went, etc.

Last week, out of nowhere, it slipped almost totally from a dead stop with no warning. It was at 2500 RPM and barely moving. I had to stop and put it in park, and back to D. Nothing again, until today, 5 days later. It did it again, and this time, twice, and also slammed into 2nd gear afterward. I am hoping the whole thing is shot, so I can get it replaced, finally. What's your opinion?

Exclamation

99% of the time those problems aren't related to trans failure but to CONTROL problems! Computer/wiring/valve body/shifter control & proper coordination of the valve body to computer!
READING codes & adaptation values should allow for proper diagnosis!

IF the trans is WORN then a easy 10minute scan of clutch adaptation values will confirm that possibility!

The "slop" you're talking about usually comes from shifter linkage bushings missing (very common on the722.6) But that is usually not over looked.

I concur that the control units/valve body are usually the problem. Your problem is intermittent and mechannical in the transmission and generally not intermittent.
