SRS Codes after rear end hit
The car is a 94 c280 and it was in gear but pointed up on a steep hill (this is San Francisco afterall). The car rolled back into a car that was behind. Apparently it smacked it pretty hard as the bumper is scratched up and the trunk latch is out of alignment. Now the strange part...the SRS light is now on constantly...strange coincidence or do you think something was triggered such as the tensioning seatbelts? After getting the car scanned, it came up with codes 171 and 172. According to three sources which supply DTC scanner tools these are bad codes which are errors...conclusion is that the SRS module is toast. Anyone else have run across these codes?

met to deploy air bags or seatbelt pre-tensioners. Some of the logic includes the seat belts to be engaged into the buckle, seat recognition, ignition on, moving speed and so on. The SRS control unit has sensed the rear end impact and has logged a hard fault, you will need to have control unit checked and rectified by a dealer. ozzy |
