how to check auxilary fan for operation 450 SL 1977

for 1977 450SL, how to check auxilary fan (in front of condensor) for operation. Fuse checks OK, connecter plug on side of radiator. Simple suggestions ( no meter available) appreciated. Thanks for any help. Abe G
