A quick question...

When I pulled my windshield washer resevoir out of my 92 400E, right next to it (on the inner fender panel) there is some sort of small box (about the size of a bar of soap) with vacuum lines going to it, and some wires. Anyway it looks like one of those vacuum lines go to my AC compressor or something, but i noticed a vacuum line had been pulled off. This line goes somewhere under the engine or something, and I reconnected it. Can anyone guess what this "box" is, and where those vacuum lines go to so I can figure out what might have not been working before i reconnected it's line?

Thanks again from Houston!!

PB

Just looked at my 400e...

I have two small boxes next to each other with vac hoses. I traced the main vac hoses and they appear to terminate on the top of my engine. 1 tube directly into the intake manifold and the other into a sensor or something screwed into the front of the intake manifold.

I haven't a clue what they are doing. Heck, my mechanic found a similar looking tube loose up next to my master cylinder and it turned out to have something to due with transmission shifting sensors ??????

Perhaps a more technically inclined reader will respond
