Gas Pedal Adjustment

My 96 E320 accelerator pedal has, I'd guess, probably a couple of degrees of 'play' before it engages the throttle linkage cable(s). I almost don't notice it anymore, after almost one year's ownership, but other occasional drivers do.

The pedal pivots at the floor. Can this 'play' be adjusted out?

Thanks for any help.

Ron
