MB 380 SEL Supercharger duchatelet

Hi
I am new to this board and looking for some help. I have found a 380 sel with carat by duchatalet, on the rear of the boot lid, the engine is the V8 with a well designed and fitted supercharger, fitted to top RHS (from drivers seat) and connected to the normal air intake (with filter removed) by a cast alloy inlet tube. the seller says that this was fitted as a factory option???. car seems slightly lower, the car is in the UK,
can anyone help me with some info on this vehicle, I know that duch.. is now known for lavish interiors ajnd stretch/armoured vehicles, but did they fit superchargers on 1981??.
any other thoughts ref mechanical reliability, fuel systems etc
