noise encapsulation panel (undershield) and water
When I open the rear noise encapsulation panel, the black plastic that covers the transmission area, I find that water comes out from one hole for bolt (one on the passenger side).
Also, water is trapped in the vinyl covered foam: I squeeze the foam, and I see water coming out of the foam. The upper side (the side that contacts with the car's underbody) looks OK, but there seems to be some tear on the side. Are such things normal? My car is 1992 300D.

Those foam insulated tubes that come down from the chassis on each side of the transmission are for your AC condensation. That is perfectly normal. Water can gather on the topside of the encasulation panel, but will dry or run off. Nothing to worry about. The tubes are designed that way to elimate noise while the blower is going. You can buy the tubes and replace them, cheap and easy if you feel like it. Happy Benzing!

The panals on my friends W210 would collect a bit of water towards the back. A drill and 3/8 bit did the job. Now he has custom drains.

Can it be due to clogged drain hole?
The body shop might have blocked the original drain hole with rubberized undershield material while they were repairing the rust area.. The picture was taken by the body shop. I suspect this because a lot of water came out from the noise encapsulation panel bolt hole when the front wheels are on the ramp. If this is the case, should I go to body shop to un-block the original drain hole?
