Continuing saga. '91 300E that doesn't start.
Well, I fixed the broken exhaust valve spring. Started her up and took her out for a 1 mile drive. Put her back in the drive way and pulled the plugs and checked the compression. They came back as:
#1 162 #2 166 #3 171 #4 164 #5 165 #6 165 Put her back to gether, then gave her a bath. THis is when the problems started happening. First it would start, then stall as I accelerated. If I slowly accelerated, it would continue w/o problems. I could even get it close to redline w/o problem. As it warmed up it continued to stall. This went on for a couple of weeks. I checked all the vacuum lines, distributor cap, changed fuel filter. The fuel pump appears to turn on (can hear it), and I do have pressure on the line when I changed the fuel filter. Now the car doesn't even start. I've sprayed starting fluid in the intake and it still doesn't turn over. I'll check for spark tonight to make sure its not an ignition issue. Any other recommendations? I'm ready to take it in. Was I suppose to disconnect the power to the coil before taking the compression test? |
