Hello everyone,

First of all I'll apologize because this is a bit off topic.
I applied for a job as a sales executive for Mercedes last month, and I've just had a letter saying I've got an interview. This is really great news for me, I'm only 19, so I didn't think I had a chance, but it's looks like it might be quite promising!
Also, our local dealer has a Brilliant Silver 1998 E55 for sale, and I've managed to talk my dad into taking it for a test drive, hopefully I can also talk him into trading it for his W140 500.

Sorry to post this, but I've been wanting to tell somebody, but nobody I know is as interested in Mercedes as us.

A bit of interesting news about Mercedes in the UK aswell: They are closing some 200 of their 300 main dealers in the UK. I have heard that they have only given 6 months notice to a lot of the sales staff, instead of the contraced two years, so some dealers are planning to sue Mercedes for $$$$$$$$$$!!! I'm not sure how true this is, but my source if quite reliable.

Thanks guys, wish me luck!!!

I rather talk to a salesman that loves the cars he sells than somebody that would feed you any BS to sell a car.
Good luck with the interview!!

Well said J Hidalgo! The main reason my friend didn't buy a starmark 500E is because the hyper arrogant sales dweeb told him and his wife, when they asked about reliability, "Well, it is a high performance car, and the only imported 5 or 6 thousand of these (!?!), so the parts are going to be special order and expensive, but then if you want reliability, you shouldn't be looking at performance cars, and...blah blah and so on"!!! He didn't know or love his product, and his attitude and ignorance cost him a sale.
Oliverp, you obviously love the product, so you should do well. Best of luck in the new job!

Congratulations! I can't imagine a better job than being around a Mercedes dealership all day. Sounds like you have the enthusiasm to do really well at it. Good Luck!

Congratulations. Seems like a dream job. I don't know why MBZ would be closing any dealerships: Daimler Chrysler is going through some trouble however its only the Chrysler division thats suffering. MBZ is thriving! Are you going to be at a dealership, or as a executive staff member? I know that when I graduate college I might be applying to MBZ for a position.

Learn some Deutsch! Olstandmesser...

Here now is a quote coming from the website of Mercedes Benz main page, http://www.mercedesbenz.de. You will read this now, and understand this later:

"Welcomely with Mercedes Benz. Beautifully that you are here. The fact that you are interested in Mercedes Benz makes us happy much. We load you in to learn our enterprise and our products. Much pleasure!"

Wiedersehen...Ja?

Good luck!

Good luck on the interview Oliver. Regardless of how it turns out I'm sure it will be a great learning experience for you. It has been my experience that people generally succeed in the areas where they are really passionate...maybe not immediately but, eventually. Try to find someone who can give you some pointers about interviewing and also do some practice interviewing before going in.

Let us know how it goes!

You se Webmaster, and the others want to recruit you to go to Atlanta, and run the dealership for them.

Best Of Luck

Also Why would M-B be closing its dealerships. ?

The reason they are closing dealerships and cutting back is because the acquisition of Chrysler by Daimler in 1998 has become a financial burden to Daimler.

"Chrysler earned the highest profit per vehicle among Detroit's Big Three auto makers in the mid-1990s, but its fortunes have plummeted in recent months. Chrysler reported a $512 million loss for last year's third quarter, its first quarterly loss in nine years, and DaimlerChrysler has indicated that Chrysler will post a fourth-quarter loss of $1.2 billion when the company announces 2000 results next month. DaimlerChrysler expects Chrysler to continue to post losses in the billions of dollars well into next year."

The company ended the fourth quarter with no cash reserves to protect them,(down from 6 billion euros in the 3rd quarter), forcing them to borrow 7.1 billion dollars. The CEO of Daimler Chrysler, Juergen Schrempp, vows to restore Chrysler to it's former glory as an American icon, but he is being pressured to do it within 6 months, which is most likely impossible. Many people would like to see the two names parted once again.

The Good News is that Daimler is doing great!
