560SL dashboard
I just bought an 87 560SL and have a question on the dashboard. This one has a kind of "webbing" all around it wedged up against the windshield. It looks to be original but can anyone tell me if this was part of an original dash or an aftermarket cap?

I can see the windshield seal on mine - it is whitish - and I'm certain that my dash is not modified from original.
