Donnie (or anyone)

I was driving my daughter to school yesterday and my 1988 300E seemed to jump a little when switching gears (automatic) and then I started feeling vibrations. I can't decipher if they are coming from the engine or from the tires. I've been told it could be transmission, wheel alignment, or just some bad plugs. I do need an oil change (2K over), do you think that's the culprit??? Please help!!

Thanks!

Possibilities are endless. If it was sudden, could be a flex disc. Unless you hit something, it's unlikely that it's a tire thing. Negative on the oil change. Could be engine related as well. Coinciding with you gear change scenario. If you're not an avid DYI person, baset get it checked by someone you trust...Good Luck.

Ehh,

The possiblities are really endless. First you need to try and isolate the problem, when does this occur, etc.?

When you bought the new tires for the car, it should have came with a lifetime balance of tires for free, if you go to NTB, you can get a free estimate for 4 wheel alighment.

If you have a bad engine or tranny mount, then it could cause vibrations. Best way to tell is get the car in the air and look at it.

A bad spark plug can cause one of the cylinder to not fire properly and cause vibs too.

Does this happen ONLY when you accelerate? could be fuel related.

I hope this helps.
