1984 190D Instrument cluster question....
Two questions.
1. For about two weeks now my instrument cluster coolant temp has been sitting just above the 40 degrees Celcius and below 60 degrees Celcius when i drive my vehicle. It goes down all the way of course when i turn it off so i know it is getting some kind of a signal. The gauge will sometimes jump about 20 degrees celcius up and down sparatically. Now when i drove it last week i checked the heat on the highway and it didn't seem like it was heating that good so i replaced the thermostat. Well i just tested it and it STILL does the same thing. Any thoughts? BTW the fans do kick on.
2. Me and my brother just did an ignition lock housing and switch on my car so we did the whole procedure of taking off the speedo cable off the trans, taking out instrument cluster, ect. Well we had a disaster of a time marking the single prong wires coming out of the instrument cluster and all of our paper markings we did fell out eventually because we didn't have the right parts the first day so it sat for a couple of days. Well now we got the car all back together and its dark out and now my lights on the RADIO and Heater/AC controls do not light up. The radio and HVAC both work fine but just the lights dont work at all. Also the glow plug circuit light does not seem to want to illuminate. We tested for power and the light to the instrument cluster for the glow plug had power when we turned ignition on, but the light did not illuminate. We also tried using a different bulb and still did not work.
We did check and the glow plug relay was working fine, sending power to the glow plugs when turning ignition switch to on position. Any suggestions?
