voz1, although it's not really solving the problem remove the fuse that controls the seat belt presenter. I did that on our 1991 and 1992 300CE's to avoid the nuisance of the trim piece on the pod coming loose as the presenter extended. On the 300CE's that fuse also controls power to the passenger side exterior mirror.
