I'm an idiot!!! 300ce window prob - PICS!
Hopefully the title of this thread got everyone's attention! lol
My 1990 300ce doors are starting to reflect the car's age. They were sagging, so I went ahead and adjusted the hinges and striker plates so that they align properly. Of course, this means that I had to adjust the windows as well... They were rolling up to high. So I followed the service manual's instructions, which says to loosen the following two nuts, which limit the upward travel of the window (after removing the door panel, of course). ![]() ![]() No problem there. The problem occurred when I tried to tighten the damn things. I really didnt exert much pressure, but I broke the bolt clear off of the first one. I was pissed at myself, but I really didn't think it should've broken. So then I was even more cautious when I tried to tighten the other bolt. This is the part where the "idiot" thing comes in. I sheered the other bolt in half too! I couldn't believe it! Here is a pic of the parts that I broke: ![]() So, that leads me to my question. As you can see on one of the units in the pic above, the bolt that broke is welded onto the back of the L-bracket. These brackets do not have part numbers on them. Is there any hope for me to find replacements? Thanks for reading. I may have to try and salvage some from the junk yard... |
