Hello all I've got my scanner online, and my digital Nikon is talking to the host. Now I have to learn to make digital or conventional pics for you all either on the forum or E-Mail. I've come this far, don't give up on me.It really helps my old tub. Happy Trails Beep Beep from Houston.

I have a question about the ram air.

Could one take a factory air filter housiong, cut off the air intake, and place it on the back of the one in the car,a nd route it for ram air?

I was just looking at my engine yesterday, and it dawned on me that it might be possible to do it that way.

i am very interested in ramming some air into my car.

RE: Ram Air

Whatever you do, be very careful in locating the air inlet. I've heard of some cheesed-off Porsche 944 owners who have driven through deep puddles at speed (clever, huh?) and picked up a slug of water through their low-mounted factory air cleaner inlet. This event converted the Ram Air principle into the Ram Water principle and also converted their engine blocks into very unwieldy paperweights. Generally speaking, the lower an inlet is mounted, the cooler and more oxygen-rich the air charge. The higher the inlet is mounted, the less likely your tech will be discussing the concept of "hydraulic lock" with you and asking awkward questions about your personal finances.

Ashman your idea was tried by some yolkel in Houston. Save your time effort and money. By the way how did the pictures turn out? How strange your idea and my pictures passed each other in the e-mail. Happy Trails Beep Beep from Houston.

It's called a Hydrostatic Lock

My 300E does not go as fast as that other German machine. And yes I would be concerned if the condition on my machine lent itself to that condition. Some conditions huh? Thanks for the concern, I've already had it in South Texas storms and piddles or is it puddles, whatever it's been there. Happy Trails Beep Beep from Houston.

ok to post pictures use the img tag surrounded by brackets.

I.E. [img ]then the link goes here[ /img]

no spaces in between the link and the brackets

here are the links I'm posting the pictures in a new link too.

http://home.earthlink.net/~asherson/ramair/enginebay.jpg
http://home.earthlink.net/~asherson/ramair/rightintake.jpg
http://home.earthlink.net/~asherson/ramair/rightside.jpg
http://home.earthlink.net/~asherson/ramair/rightside2.jpg
http://home.earthlink.net/~asherson/ramair/tubebymanifold.jpg
http://home.earthlink.net/~asherson/ramair/tubetovent.jpg

so I am writing out the link as it should but with a space between the link and the brackets. for you to post them, use the link without the space inbetween the link and the brackets. Make sure there are no spaces anywhere in the whole link.

[img ] http://home.earthlink.net/~asherson/ramair/enginebay.jpg [ /img]

with the space gone you get this:

Thanx Alon(ashman)

I am ever so greatfull for your posting my pictures. I hope they are worthy of presentation quality. Also depictive enough for other members to try making thier own intake system. As for your instruction on how I may post my pictures myself, well intake is simple for me, Brackets no space, not so easy. Happy Trails Beep Beep from Houston.

Did it make any difference in torque or hp Donald, just want to know? Getting off the subject somewhat. I noticed that you have Jacobs Ultra Fit wires and Energy Pack. I am thinking of getting the Ultra Fit wires, but kind of reluctant getting a Omni Pack . What exactly does it do and did you notice a difference? If it does, can you tell me what differences you noticed? How long have you had the Jacobs ignition system and what kind of plugs you running?

Thanx in advance

Jacobs Omni Magnum

s60, I've had the system for over three years. It gives you what they claim and more. One advantage over the MSD,or any other cap/discharge unit, should the Jacobs fail, you simply exchange the J coil wire for the original and you're running again. You should obtain thier Tech Sheet for all the info you're seeking. Spark Plugs, Champion Copper core, gap 0.054 inch. Plug wires, Jacob 8mm silicone. When you put all of the mods together, the old tub does quit well and I still get 27-29 mpg with A/C at 70+ mph. It works for me. Happy Trails Beep Beep from Houston.

Have a Jacobs catalog. However, wanted to hear from a real person who had it. See, if it is worth it. Still thinking about it and I'll probably get the plug wires first. Can you tell me and everyone else. Did the Cold Air Induction idea really help? Sorry, for the burst of fame. Know you're tired. Thanx again in advance.
